Wardrobe Wednesday (Week 2)

Thank you for all the kind comments you left last Wednesday. It made me feel pretty and like I wasn't a complete nut. I must tell you that I feel silly "modeling" for these pictures. Brett jokes and teases me with comments like "Work it girl", "Now be a tiger" and "Give me more". I have no idea where he got his information that photographers say that. I know our wonderful wedding photographer didn't say things like that.

This weeks outfit is rocking the Australian Olympic teams colors. At least this is what I remember their colors being. See.....

Green and Yellow. I could totally rock this at the olympic games this summer.....they are this summer, right?
So far my goal to avoid buying myself more clothes is going well. I keep stumbling upon jewelry that I had forgotten I had. I can't decide if this is better then getting something new or not. I am thinking it is better because I am not spending more money. Maybe one day all the money I'm saving will allow me to go to the olympic games. It's on my unofficial bucket list.

Bye for now,

My Dream Room

I have decided to let the living room alone for awhile. Instead I have been focusing on the master bedroom. I have come up with this great room. It's my realistic dream room.

Only now I have just been told that my apartment does not allow people to paint! I'm so mad that I want to move! I know I was going to paint the walls in the room black and have a chalk wall but I was going to paint it back to the boring-oh-so-blah-cream that no one in their right minds really wants on their wall. We will see what I can do. If I am going to be here for three more years I need to do something. For now it is going to have to stay a dream. :-(

My Current Living Room

Good Morning! Since my family lives in strange and diverse places (like Texas) and I live in Utah, I have decided to share with them (and you) what my current living room situation is. I am also hoping for advice as to what they think I should do. Before we get to the photo let me tell you what I need this room to do. That way your brain can be working as you look at these pictures.

First it needs to be a place where we can hang out and play games with not only us, but six other people as well. We would also like ti to hold our computer even though we could put it in the "study" because we want it to be in a high traffic space. Lastly we would like to have a tiny place to eat.

With out further ado, here are the pictures.

See the computer in the corner? It doesn't have to stay there and just so you know, that couch is HUGE!

Please excuse the last few boxes in this room.

Can you see how that closet door cuts my living room up.

Now that you have seen it, any suggestions? Oh and should I dye that tanish colored love-seat, do any of you know how a girl could do that?

Aunt Kristi's Chocolate Chip Cookies

When I was little I HATED chocolate chip cookies. I might have even told people I was allergic. There was one exception to my dislike of these cookies and that is my Aunt (read it with a british accent because thats how I really do say it) Kristi's chocolate chip cookies.  They are, with out a doubt, the best chocolate cookies on earth.

Here's the recipe.

1 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. milk chocolate chips

Mix butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Then add all the reamaning ingredients except the chocolate chips. Mix well then add chocolate chips and stir.

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minuets.

Wardrobe Wednesday #1

In a effort to stop myself from buying new clothes I have decided to start a Wardrobe Wednesday (I have no idea if I am the first person to do this or not).

The rules I am setting for myself are simple. I am not aloud to buy any new clothes for a month. I can alter or embellish any of the clothes I have (if I am not too lazy to do it), but I can not run out to the store or have someone else fix them.

Now to let the mixing and hopefully matching begin. The outfit for this week is ......

(Brett always makes me laugh)

Do you think it turned out OK? Have you found any new outfits in your closet lately? If so I would love to see a picture of them.

Have you seen the stylish antlers people have been putting up around there homes? Well I want one. But I can't find any that look..... remotely desirable for a reasonable price. I have only found two one looked like it might still be attached to the skull of the dear and the other most certainly is. I suppose I could just cut them off and spray paint them, but I am honestly hoping for something ceramic or wood.

Does anyone have an idea where I could find some? Maybe you have a store in mind? Oh please have a store in mind!

Decorating Debate

While I am not near the part where I get to put all of my decorating plans into action, here is what I am thinking for the living room. It is partially inspired by some of the work of an Australian designer from Black and Spiro in Brisbane.  Of course I will not be buying these exact items (as they are way to over priced for me) and they will not be setup quite like so, but this is my jumping off point. At least I think it is my jumping off point. My husband questions this room because he thinks he couldn't relax in it. Of course his idea of comfort is an overstuffed sofa that is really to big for ANY apartment.

This (and that I would like your opinion) is why I need to know what you all think. For example are there to many colors competing for attention? Is the shadow bird a bit weird or is he must have? Would it be hard for you to relax in this room? Is the room completely crazy? AM I completely crazy (no don't answer that)?

Please let me know.
