A Little Entertainment

When my sister arrived she asked what projects I wanted todo while she was here. A little entertainment if you will. I mentioned that I had been wanting to paint my wall of furniture that were varying shades of fake wood brown. She was all for it. The plan was to paint them a non-committal, but very in style white. It is my safe color for "wood" furniture. That plan got nixed by my sister, so out came a bright turquoise blue. We gave these two old and falling apart beauties new life while she was here.

We used a small roller and brush to paint. Then we sprayed it with a sealer the guy at Home Depot sold me. I have to tell you that I love how alive it makes my living room. As nerve racking as it was to commit to a bold color the results is wonderful and helps by heading me in a much need direction.

I give my sister full credit for this project as it would not have happened for a long time if she hadn't come to visit. Thank you Amber for encouraging and helping me to make my living room look ten times better.

The only thing left to paint on my wall of furniture is the desk (shown below), but that is going to have a little more to is than a solid color. I am so excited for the weather to warm up again so I can attack it with lots of love.

Temple Trip

This post is for my mother-in-law.

For those of you who don't know. In the LDS church when you reach the age of 12 you can go to the Temple to do baptisms for the dead . This was Kassi's first time to go to the temple and we celebrated by going as a family.

Paige's Bridal Shower

A while ago my job threw a small bridal shower for our friend (and co-worker) Paige
My job was to provide the bulk of the of the decorations. So I used a piece of cardboard, a clearence frame and some paper to make this.

The strips of paper were mogepoged to the cardboard and then I glued the butterflies onto that.
After seeing the space I should have made it allot bigger, but I still think that it turned out great. More importantly everyone had a great time.

Visitor Prep

There is nothing that can motivate a person to clean (and decorate) more than a visitor. So in two weeks I got done what I didn't get done in 9 months in California. I even managed to dart out and buy some stylish drapes to take care of the closet door (or lack there of) situation before my nephew came to explore everything.

Yes I still need to work on things in this room. Like taking the Halloween art out of the that frame and actually sewing these beauties. I love the fabric though and couldn't wait to share it with you.

Bye for now,

Wardrobe Wednesday (Week 3)

Hello again! Are you tired of looking at the clothes in my closet yet? If you are thats no good because I still have allot of outfit potential in there that I need to focus on. If you missed the reason why I am sharing my wardrobe with you click here. Don't worry. I'm not a narcissist.

Here is the outfit for the week.

This yellow hippie shirt was my last purchase before I started this thing.  I love it and it added a much needed print to my mostly printless wardrobe. To late have I realized this fact. I will have to work with what I have...........maybe I can draw crazy designs on one of my many plain white shirts with a permeant marker.....No?

I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.

Red, Orange, Green, Blue

Do you remember that disney song where the guy sings "red yellow green red blue blue blue and purple and orange and red red. Blend them up and ...." You get the idea. At the end of the song he ends in colors that don't exist. I feel like the guy at the end of his song. All the colors are mixed up in my head and I have even made up a few. It's because I am having a dilema deciding what color to paint some of our furniture. Sort of like this gal.

Of course she is ahead of me because she knows she wants a shade of purple where as I just know I want to paint. Perhaps I should tackle other areas in my decorating before I choose paint. Then maybe it will be easier for me to choose.

Keeping my finger crossed,
Miss Riss
